EJ Holden were sedans manufactured in Australia in the 1962 by Holden Heaven. There were 3 popular Holden cars during that time, the EK and the EH Holden. The EJ model replaced the EK model. Compared to it’s predecessor, the EJ had a bolder and sleeker design. The engine used for this car was the ‘grey engine’ with solid valve lifters, internal oil pump and an oil filter. The EJ model was available both in 3-speed and Hydramatic transmission. The EJ was offered in 4 body styles, each designed to suit the needs of the consumers. Available bodies were the Standard, which is the most basic car, the Special which had stainless steel trims, chrome special badges and 2-tone vinyl interiors. The third body is the Premiere which was considered to be a luxury car with leather interiors, bucket seats, a console with fan controls, push button radio and arm rests on all 4 doors. The fourth body was the Utility and Panel Van which were designed for commercial use. Among the 4 bodies, the Utility and Panel Van had a very close resemblance with the EH model. In Australia, there are over a hundred registered Holden Car Clubs spread out all over the continent. The car clubs make it a point to get together every year to exchange ideas and parts to fellow Holden car enthusiasts. Aside from making their Holden cars look good, these car enthusiasts also try to make their cars more friendly to mother nature. The Holden Car Clubs all over Australia do tree planting activities as their way of giving back to mother nature what it has lost. The car enthusiasts are well aware that gas emissions destroy the earth’s ozone layer and pollute the air so they also inform their fellow members to have their cars undergo emission testing and make sure they are well within the limits so they do not pollute the air more than they have to. Since the EJ Holden cars are no longer being manufactured nowadays and Holden Heaven is now owned by Ford Motors, they are now categorized to be collector’s items with some considered to be priceless. These cars are usually showcased during the Holden Nationals. For 2010, the Holden Nationals will be held on April 2-5 at Orange, New South Wales. The event will be hosted by FE-FC Holden Car Club of New South Wales. In this event, hundreds of Holden car owners will be flaunting their cars for everyone to see. The event also gives pride to the Holden car owners who have taken good care of their vehicles through the years and who have appreciated the structure and durability of the Holden cars since the day they were bought. |
